Worms and Viruses

This is just a simple guide on how to avoid and minimize infections on computer threatening worms and viruses. All common worms and viruses were usually transfered by a USB storage devices so this guide mainly focuses on how to check and maintain computer cleanliness while using infectious USB storage.

This is very simple. Works for Windows OS.

Step 1. Install an antivirus program.
Recommendation: Avira Antivir <<< proven and tested, plus it's FREE.

Step 2. Disable Autoplay. How???
Go to Start Menu or press and hold "Window key" (between "left Ctrl" and "left Alt") + press "R" to initiate "run" command. Then type "gpedit.msc" (available only for administrator account). Go to administrative Tab under the "user settings", click "System Tab" then click "Turn off Autoplay". Under its menu click disable for all devices and click ok. Close the "gpedit.msc" window and reboot your computer.

When this done correctly, your autoplay will be disable for all devices. So, whenever you plug a USB storage device, it will not automatically initiate the worm or virus inside it. To open your USB storage device, just simple to go My Computer and right click on the removable disk icon and click explore.

Hope you find this guide helpful or useful.
